An MTProto proxy is a relay built specifically for Telegram. Instead of connecting to Telegram’s servers directly, the app connects to the proxy, which passes the traffic on.
How it works
- Telegram encrypts your message on your device using MTProto.
- The encrypted data travels to the proxy server.
- The proxy forwards it to Telegram’s servers — and the replies back.
The proxy only ever sees an encrypted stream: it cannot read your chats, photos or contacts. That is the crucial difference from random SOCKS5 proxies found online.
What Fake-TLS is
Plain Telegram traffic is easy to fingerprint. In Fake-TLS mode the connection to the proxy looks like an ordinary HTTPS session with a popular website, so it survives on filtered networks. All our servers run in this mode — their secrets start with ee.
What the proxy owner can see
- your IP address (the same thing any website sees);
- how much traffic you move and when you connect.
And cannot see: messages, who you talk to, your phone number, your files.
Where a proxy is not enough
